I'm so excited to be back this summer for my fourth official season coaching, although I have been helping in one way or another since I was 11! I began my swimming career here in 2009, and I also swam for LYST Stingrays and the LHS team growing up. I spent three years competing collegiately at the College of Wooster, and I will have just finished my Bachelor's at Ohio University by the time we're in the pool this summer!
I am super excited to get to work this summer with all the swimmers.
Let's work hard and have fun, go Gators!
Coach Susie started her swimming journey at Valley View, learning how to swim there at 6. She became the head coach when she was 19 and had 45 swimmers on the team (where they would car pool to the meets!). She also started the swim parent group. She took a pause to start her career, and came back with her 4 boys and started coaching again. Susie has coaching the Gators for about 40 years. She also coached the Lancaster High School team for three years, and the Lancaster YMCA Stingrays for 15 years.
Hi! My name is Betsy and my summers were spent at Valley View since I was 6 months old. I joined the swim team when I was 4 (Susie was my coach). I became a Valley View lifeguard, swim lessons instructor, and snack bar worker/manager at 15. I also swam for the Y, the John Bruce Swim Clan, and Lancaster High School. Susie and I were also assistant coaches together for Lancaster High School for two years. Then, at the age of 25, my husband and I started our family and I took a break from the pool. After my children became old enough to join VVST, I was asked to coach. I have been a coach at Valley View for more than 20 years. I have enjoyed watching our swimmers learn and excel in a sport I have loved over the years!
Larry Pentiuk is a retired principal from Amanda-Clearcreek Schools. He has been a swim instructor and coach for the past 40+ years and was the pool manager for Lancaster Country Club for 15 of those years. When not on vacation or in Florida, Coach Larry is a substitute principal for Pickerington Schools. Coach Larry works with our youngest group of swimmers.
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 with an undergrad and masters, as a scholarship athlete, where I was fortunate enough to be a part of the 2009 Undefeated Hall of Fame Football Team that got beat by Florida’s Urban Meyer team with Tim Tebow and company. I met my life partner Anna in 2014, we have three children that all swim (Gigi 10, Lucy 8, Matteo 4) and we celebrated our 10 year anniversary last fall in Iceland. I’ve coached for 15 years, from collegiate to youth sports, including swimming, soccer, strength and conditioning, track and field, and football. Each year I find it more challenging to operate a food truck and complete my construction projects, while balancing work and family, but am motivated by my parents who both coached me and my friends while navigating life.
I’m a born and raised Lancaster gator. I graduated from FCA in 2025 and have moved to Indiana where I go to Grace College. I have been swimming at valley view since I was three, guarded for the past four years and was a junior coach last year. This year I’m excited to take on a new leadership role as a guard and become a full coach! My goal as a coach is to balance pushing my swimmers while maintaining a fun positive environment.
